Mario Gagnon

After having worked for public organizations and manufacturing companies, Mario Gagnon founded ALTO Design in 1986. Thanks to his vision, he developed extensive expertise and won several national and international awards.

From 2008 to 2014, he served as the President of the Association des designers industriels du Québec, which gave him Emeritus Member status in recognition of his involvement in the promotion and development of the profession. He is a member of the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers (ACID) Board of Directors and chairs the scientific committee for the 2017 World Design Summit Montréal (WDSM) with representatives from other design professions in order to define the event’s themes.

Mario Gagnon has been an active participant in teaching institutions as part of several projects to promote industrial design. He was named Associate Professor of the Université de Montréal Industrial Design School in February 2016.

On April 1, 2015, he handed over the management of the company to his trusted trio. He now collaborates in the company’s strategic management and contributes to its outreach.
