AquaVac 650

AquaVac 650
Hydro-Cyclonic Cleaner

Hayward

Rethink the robotic pool cleaner from top to bottom. That was the mandate Hayward gave us for the design and development of their all-new AquaVac 650: a robotic pool cleaner that combines distinctive design with new technologies and features while integrating seamlessly into the Hayward product line. Here’s an assessment of a multi-faceted project that put the sum total of all our expertise to the test.

First of all, ALTO worked very closely with Hayward in developing the best innovation strategy even before we got to work on creating the new device. We then determined what the overall user experience (UX) should be, in addition to regular research and analysis, producing numerous models and prototypes, and support for production. Our mandate also extended to the development of the power supply unit, its interface, and the mobile app allowing for total control of the robotic cleaner.

The imaging team, working in collaboration with RayOn FX special effects, produced a promotional video, as well as numerous images and visuals for product marketing.

So, how does a company like Hayward reinvent the robotic pool cleaner?

...by adopting a technology that prevents any possible obstruction.

+

SPINTECH hydro-cyclonic and filter-free technology creates a suction spiral that maintains maximum power without interruption until the job is completely done.

+

In addition, HEXADRIVE adaptive traction allows the robotic cleaner to navigate easily between any potential obstacles. The six sturdy and unique rollers adhere to all types of pool surfaces, even for brushing the vertical walls.

One more feature is the TOUCHFREE debris tank with its intuitive opening mechanism that lets you empty the tank in a single movement without having to clean or manually remove the debris.

+

Certain elements of the device use a colour code to make it easy to locate the gripping areas. This type of feature is part of the Hayward product DNA, something that we will elaborate in more detail in an upcoming section on the visual identity of the brand.

Removing the unit from the water is also greatly facilitated by an additional handle built into the power cable, another unique Hayward product feature.

+

Black skirts with matte finish contrast with the opalescent body and transparent central tank. A fine and elaborate laser texture adds a level of detail and refinement, all highlighting the technical, contemporary, and dynamic aspects of the product.

+

The design of the power supply unit is intentionally minimalist to focus the user’s attention on its interface. It was designed to be consistent with the mobile app, also developed in collaboration with Hayward. The app allows you to set the device, update the system, and even remotely control the robotic cleaner. The app itself will soon be presented on our site. To be continued…
