ALTO Lab

The SLR-AL20 is a rail transport research and development project undertaken by ALTO Lab.

This exploratory design exercise allowed us to solidify our own vision of a light rail system that would be ideal for a typical North American city and its suburbs.

Our goal was to create an LRT with both aesthetic appeal and a smooth transit experience for all passengers.

Its understated profile and clean surfaces help it integrate seamlessly into the urban landscape, while its aerodynamic front profile and LED headlights give it a unique and striking visual signature.

The interior layout offers a total of 35 seats per car, reserved seating for users with limited mobility, handrails, tri-pods and zones adapted for cyclists. It can hold a maximum of 110 passengers without compromising comfort.

To increase efficiency at the end of the line, the head and tail are identical and bidirectional.

Its Boa type structure allows for users to move smoothly between cars, optimizing available space.
