Recognition of student excellence at the faculty of environmental design graduate exhibition

By Patrick Mainville, July 21st, 2020

Mario Gagnon and Patrick Mainville were invited as jury members to select a graduation project for the Excellence Award in Design.

The 2020 edition of the Faculty of Environmental Design Graduate Exhibition (EFFA) was exceptional. Despite being unable to present the fruits of their labour at the annual exhibition in their faculty's building, over 300 determined and resilient students showcased their projects online at effa.umontreal.ca as of June 1st.

Even though participants could not meet and discuss in person, EFFA 2020, just like every year, was an opportunity to recognize student excellence as well as to hand out awards and scholarships from our generous donors and partners. A total of 79 awards, scholarships, and nominations amounting to $150,000 were given to 146 students in architecture, landscape architecture, design, urban planning, and other graduate studies within the faculty.

We would like to commend the work of Design School director Tatjana Leblanc, who created the formula to a very successful alternative virtual vernissage.

The Scholarship of Excellence in Industrial Design recognizes the excellence of a graduation project in industrial design, based on the project’s development and visualization, as well as technical viability, creativity, and relevance.
