Design Review : SILMO 2015

ALTO attended the 2015 SILMO Optical Fair in Paris, which brought together many optical and sports brands presenting their 2016 models.

On an esthetic level, sports brands such as JULBO distinguished themselves through thin geometric lines approximating the lines found in product design. This type of esthetic is increasingly popular with the majority of European sports brands. This trend is helping to create a clean break from the organic and skeletal esthetic limits that OAKLEY has set for decades in America and that continues to decline with competitors year after year. The strongest optical trend is in "vintage" frames treated geometrically. Honourable mention goes to RAEN, which tends to push geometric lines a little further, while maintaining a perfect coherence between its branding and products.
