Featured projects - Université de Montréal Design School

By Vanessa Forget, November 18th, 2016

On Wednesday, November 9 the third edition of the “Featured Projects” exhibition was presented at the Université de Montréal Design School. This RAEDIUM initiative consists in highlighting products and services created by former faculty students in order to promote the next generation and offer visibility to Québec designers.
The participating designers were asked to submit their projects accompanied by a short description and their general vision of their industrial design practice.
Several projects featured in the exhibition were conceived by ALTO designers.

To highlight the event, Mario Gagnon, founding president of ALTO design, was invited to give a talk on his personal development and his involvement in various product design organizations (ADIQ and ICSID) over the last 15 years.
Mario also took the time to thank the Design School’s directors for appointing him as an associate professor earlier this year. Although he does not intend to leave the practice behind for a career in teaching, Mario expressed his desire to combine his practical side, based on his 37 years of experience, with the theoretic aspect of the Design School. He would also like to invite several professionals from his vast network in various Québec sectors to invest further in the university setting through conferences, technical support, bursaries, etc.
